The D.R.Y.L. Crowns Our 2011 Queen !!
Miss
2011 D.R.Y.L. Queen Kaitlyn Haley From
Yapewi A.C.
On Friday
& Saturday August 12th and 13th around 100 boats and
numerous "car boaters" made their way to Philadelphia Marine Center for the 40th
Anniversary of The D.R.Y.L. Queens Pageant. The docks started getting filled on Friday afternoon and by Saturday morning we were packed in tight and safe thru the very hard work of J.R. Pyffer & Paul Richardson of our Docking Committee. Thanks must also go out to the clubs who
arrived on Friday and as soon as they were docked joined in to assist with the
docking within the basin. It was truly a
well executed plan and it all came about with the help of everyone who
attended. On the topic of docking we
have to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to the Members of Farragut S.A. who
volunteered to take slips in the South Basin of PMC so that we did not have to
make any difficult choices. As this was
our 40th Anniversary, Toni did her best to bring all the Past Princesses
and Queens together and I must say it was very nice to see these young women
again many of whom I remember being on stage as teenagers.
Queen
of the Chesapeake Bay and Princesses from The Bay Clubs came up for the Pageant
and enjoyed a luncheon at Dave & Busters with our
D.R.Y.L. Queen and Princesses.

Would like
to say that this year by far was one that had boaters taking the decorating of
boats to the next level it was really cool to see how much thought and work
all the clubs did to try and take the Crown away from River Winds YC who again
came in and were a 2x4 away from having to apply for a building permit from the
City Of Philadelphia.All clubs
decorated at least one boat, but NPBC, YAC, and AYC decorated all their boats
and most be commended to making this event a festive and brightly colored dock
party!

The Pageant
was another huge success due to the efforts of Toni Nespola
and her Committee who worked hard planning this weekend and making sure
everything was just right for the Queen and Princesses.Toni is so vital to our organization and the
Pageant - we are very fortunate to have her spear heading this event and I am,
and will always be, indebted to her for her involvement and help with this
event.
Thanks to
all that volunteered and who came out to support the Queen, (both outgoing and
new), the Princesses and the league -Juice
